Rashes update 2

His outbreak of rashes started on late Saturday, SUnday full blown , Monday subsided a bit.

Monday was a happy day for Shaun as ah yi , yi zhang and gua ma brought him to North POint Splash Park!! He had so much fun running around, playing iwth the water. And his rashes all disappeared, so strange. The pimply rashes were still there but not red at all. maybe because of the cooling water. When he was back home, mum let him soaked in bath tub with a green bean water and bamboo salt water. A little bit too warm to touch, so his face turned red again. Nevertheless, he was still feeling itchy so we diligently applied calendula cream all over his rashes.

Tuesday, we went back to KL!! And his redness were all gone, he no longer felt the itch. A little itchy once a while only. However, his arms left all the scars from his scratches, and all the pimply rough rashes were still on his face, although no more redness. And it din bother him at all, still actively playing and felt very happy running around, and exploring my home in KL< ehhe.

Today, I'm going to bring him to see PD, to confirm what rashes this is. Why bring to PD eventhough he has fully recovered? Because I want to know whether this is Measle? German measle/rubella?? or fifth disease? or just simply heat rash?? If they were measle or rubella, then he can opt this vaccine out liao - as he has not had his MMR vaccination yet.

Going to see Dr. Khoo at SS2 - 70 year old PD who saw me when I was a kid!! hehe.

I have lots of doubts because he has no fever, no other symptom at all. Other than his flu episode which happened 3 weeks ago, which were so mild that he recovered by his own. I will tell Dr. Khoo about these later.

Back from PD. He said they were viral rashes. So just give anti-histamine to stop the itch and some oilment to apply on his scratches. Dr say it's nothing serious.

Rashes Outbreak - Fifth Disease? (Erythema infectiosum)

Oh no, after reading up more about hives, Shaun's rashes din quite look like a hives, and it actually seems to look more like Fifth Disease instead!!

And i read from another site that the rashes outbreak happened after mild fever/cold. And yes! few weeks ago he has got mild fever, not even a fever cuz it was less than 37.5 degree. And he has got runny nose.

So, is Shaun really having fifth disease/Erythema infectionsum????????

Actually I was quite skeptical with the Dr's diagnose yesterday as he din really look carefully on Shaun's rash and said "HIVES" liao.

Rashes Outbreak - urticaria(hives)? heat rash?

My darling started having some rashes on his neck on his back on Sat after his nap. Then at night, I saw some red spots popping up on his face. I was very concerned as I have never seen this before. On Sunday morning, he woke up with rashes outbreak all over his face, both hands, and starting on his legs. It looked worse than his Roseola time, cuz they were red and looked like in patches, and this time it was itchy!!!

He was still active, eating well. Rashes din bother him when he was busy doing something or playing. But when he quiets down, he started to scratch. Very poor thing when I saw this as I scared he scratched till his skin peel then when he came in contact with water he would sure cry.

I brought him to see GP, Dr said it was hives. But it’s not contagious.

I think hard what might be the allergen. Exposed to sun? I brought him to playground on Saturday morning, and he perspired a lot, but also his cheek was super red, like got burned under the sun like that. When we walked back home, we passed by lots of trees where he picked up something, could be from the tree, and threw to the bin. At around 3pm, he ate lots of raspberries and grapes ( keep asking somemore). He napped at 4pm and woke up scratching his back, and I saw many bumps!! Looked like insect bites. Then the outbreak started off since then.

Although he was still fine, but being an anxious mum, I always got worried. Yesterday his cheek were so red and looked swollen, my heart was very pain lor. Anyway , we had great dinner at Vegsenz and he ate a lot! He didnt scratch at all. Then when we were in the car on our way back, he started scratching here and there. I kept blowing and helped him scratch. My heart was very pain! He was such a good boy, and never cried and threw tantrum although the rashes were terribly itchy. How I wish the itchiness were passed to me. When we were back home, he was busy playing, sweeping floor, I knew his rashes would flare up in no time cuz he would perspire and be heated up. So I quickly switched on the air cond. At night, during bed time, he scratched then fell asleep. At 4am, he woke up to scratch too. I felt so terrible. So today I asked my mum to bring him to TCM at Yishun. The nanny said he could be very heaty so it was expelled out in the form of hives. I’m not sure, wanna seek TCM’s advice then.

Shaun, you have been a very brave and good boy! Mummy knows that you are feeling just fine just that the rashes itch but it still makes mummy’s heart pain. Itchy Rashes, pls go away ok?

flu bug episode 2

Just when I mentioned that he recovered the next day he struck the flu, I realised that he wasnt completely recovered and he was still having mild runny nose with sticky mucus. Maybe he did not have enough rest as I still brought him to Mygym on Thursday(make -up class), Saturday(free play), and Sunday( normal class). Saw some kids coughing away in the class. But I thought, yea, he will be exposed to this kind of environment sooner or later especially when I am enrolling him to playgroup soon.

I wasnt hardworking enough to make the juices for him as I myself caught the flu bug from him too. Anyway, yesterday he started to cough. I will monitor him for the time being, as the cough did not bother him yet (*finger crossed*) I made "zhi3 ke4 tang1 for him. (urgh!! cant type chinese here)

This morning, I made another round of zhi3 ke4 tang1 for him, and also asked the nanny to make lemon + honey for him.

I will monitor his condition and might make the black bean soup or lotus soup for him tonight.

But I got to get the ginger first!! :P

Little soldier fighting the flu bug

Shaun caught flu last Sunday , maybe from Northpoint splashpark which I brought him on Saturday. Sunday he started having runny nose but was still very active. His mucus became thick with yellow/greenish type. So I think it was virus infection. Very quickly I gave him lots of fruits like kiwi. I gave him Manuka active 12, blended apple and blueberry, + lemon for him, and gave him echinaccea (added into his milk) for 3 times. Then on that same day, he was a bit feverish. Measured and it was only 37.3. So I thought ok, he started to fight the virus liao. Gave him some Korean bamboo salt diluted in his plain water. And also lemon juice. Also sponged him when he was sleeping and made green bean soup and Chinese big barley, to substitute water for his milk. At night, he pooped. Very black and hard poo and smelly!! I think he was damn heaty!!

Next day on Monday, fever was gone. Runny nose was gone. So he actually recovered within 2 days.

So I think echinaccea played a part too?? Other than the other natural remedies that I imposed on.

Roseola

Wednesday 8 July

It never occurs to me that Shaun will have Roseola until my mum pointed out to me.
Okay, it first started off on Wednesday 8/7 when the nanny called me around 3+pm saying that Shaun was running high fever at 38.9. This was the first time that Shaun was having high fever since born. I took urgent leave home and saw him with very red lips and cheeks. Looks good with rosy cheeks (:P) but oops, he was really burning hot. I decided to give him paracetamol that night. ( which I got it when shaun had mild fever last month – but I din give cuz I sponged him and he managed to fight off the virus- yeah!) After the medicine, his fever was still at 38.5. So I think his body’s soldiers are working hard still and din give in to external assistance( the para). So I decided to just let him sleep and sponge him throughout the night. That means I din get to sleep for the rest of the night. SMS boss in the morning taking urgent leave for 1 day.

Thursday 9 July
Fever was still there above 37.5. It was considered low grade fever liao, phew, at least my sponging effort pays off. I continued to sponge him with lukewarm water, whenever I have the chance too ( He just hated it especially the fever cooling pad) Other than that, he doesn’t look ill, a bit cranky off and on, or maybe just throwing tantrum? Still as active. So I just let him be, praying that his soldiers will win the battle! He slept for total 4 hour plus – which is good. His usual schedule is only 3 hours max.. appetite wise is still good, which is good. I continued to give him barley with green bean soup. And lots of fruits. His poo and fart were super smelly which indicates that he was really heaty inside!! Too much pepper corn soup and cornflakes and biscuits liao the few days earlier!!

Friday 10 July
Morning when I measured, below 37.5 but still a little warm. I just asked the nanny to sponge him and let him cool down by avoiding heaty stuff. Evening when I brought him back his fever was gone, but I spotted some rashes on his neck. I called mum and she said might be roseola!

Saturday /Sunday 11 & 12 July
Tada, rashes outbreak, but wasn’t a lot though. It appeared on his neck, face(little bit), covered whole body and back, But it doesn’t look scary though. Seemed pretty mild just like rashes. Asked hubby to research on the net – we concluded that it could be roseola, so no need to bring him to doc.

Monday 13 July
Seemed rashes were gone. Will see whether there were outbreak again tonight. Anywya, I was glad that his little body claimed the victory this time. Mummy promised not to simply give in to medicines but of course will monitor and must not be panic la when you had high fever.

Good job Shaun boy!! Let’s hope this round your little soldiers will be stronger, fitter and could help face more virus attack next time hor!
